P17 PIN pad – Supported Configurations
The P17 PIN pad is a versatile payment device designed to support various integration modes depending on the merchant’s setup. Below are the supported configurations:
1. Standalone Mode
-
Operates independently without needing to be paired with another terminal or system.
-
Suitable for quick-service or mobile setups where the PIN pad handles transactions directly.
2. CloudPOS Integration
-
Functions as a customer-facing PIN pad during CloudPOS transactions.
-
Allows customers to securely view totals, enter tips, and complete payments via card or tap.
3. SPIn Integration with a Supported Cash Register
-
Integrates with certified cash register software via SPIn (Secure Payment Interface).
-
The PIN pad is triggered directly by the register, enabling seamless point-of-sale coordination and payment processing.
4. Paired with a P1 Master Terminal (USB)
-
Connected to a P1 terminal via USB cable.
-
The P1 acts as the master device, providing power and communication.
-
This configuration is exclusive to the P1 model due to hardware compatibility.
5. Paired Wirelessly with Any iPOSpays-Compatible Terminal
-
Communicates over a shared Wi-Fi network.
-
Suitable for merchants who prefer a cable-free setup.
-
Can be paired with a wide range of iPOSpays-supported smart terminals beyond the P1.
Plugging in the Terminals
Step 1: Plug the P1 charger into a wall socket.

Avoid using an extension box for better stability
This will charge the P1 terminal while also allowing it to act as a power supply to the P17 terminal.
Step 2: Connecting the P17 PIN pad

- The P17 terminal will automatically power on when plugged in.
Additional Notes
- No Power Button on P17: The P17 does not have a power button. Simply connecting it to the P1 terminal powers it on. Once the P17 terminal is connected, it will boot up automatically.
- If you need to perform a parameter update, initiate the process on the master terminal. The PIN pad will automatically update along with the master terminal.
- The PIN pad integration can be unpaired from either of the terminals.

If the P17 is unpaired, you can still perform a transaction on the P1 terminal. The P1 will attempt to connect to the PINpad but will time out, displaying the message “PINpad connection is lost” and presenting three options:
- Perform this transaction locally (P1 standalone)
- Reboot device and reestablish connection with PINpad
- Unpair PINpad
- If you select Unpair PINpad, the P1 will be set up as a standalone terminal.
- If you select Perform tx locally, the transaction will execute in standalone mode, but only for this transaction. For the next transaction, the system will prompt you about the PINpad connection lost again.
